Antique miniature chest of drawers, most likely a Victorian apprentice piece or salesman’s sample. It is a genuinely small piece rather than a full-size bedside cabinet and has some lovely period construction details, including hand-cut dovetail joints, four turned feet and small glass drawer knobs. The layout consists of two small drawers over two wider drawers, all with a rich dark wood finish and plenty of natural age and patina. These miniature chests were traditionally produced as cabinetmaking demonstration pieces or scaled-down furniture samples and are now quite collectable.
