A beautiful piece of mid century modern MCM teak furniture — this metamorphic sideboard / desk / table has two shelves that can be positioned either stacked above and below each other as a sideboard or side-by-side as a full-width desk / table. The transformation is achieved by pulling the brass handle on the lower shelf out and gently pushing the top shelf back. The shelves rearrange themselves into a wide desk / table format in a satisfying smooth motion. The brass handle is then pushed back into position, locking the desktop in place for a sturdy work surface. Great if you’re looking for a home workstation but are short of space.
It’s in good used condition with only a few little marks and scratches commensurate with its age — see images for those.
The corners of the shelves are all dovetailed / finger-jointed together which shows it’s a quality piece.
The shelf surfaces are teak-effect melamine making them great for serving food and drinks on without fear of damaging the surface. This makes them wipe-clean and very easy to keep looking in great condition.
The whole unit is on wheels / castors so very is easy to move around should you need to
