Vintage hand-turned wooden ocarina or whistle, made as a New Zealand souvenir and inscribed with Mt Egmont and Stratford, N.Z. The oval body has multiple finger holes, a polished natural wood finish and simple hand-burned decorative details, including an outline of the mountain. Mt Egmont is the former name of Taranaki Maunga, making this an interesting older New Zealand tourist souvenir as well as a playable folk instrument. It shows some age-related marks, small surface cracks and wear from use, but retains plenty of original character. 15 x 7 cm
